I'm a very lucky gal. I work for Google in Marketing, ride bikes with the best cycling team, cook in our newly remodeled kitchen, plan faraway adventures, and best yet...I'm getting married this year to my #1 man. Life is wonderful!

Happy Mother’s Day! Just enjoyed a lovely brunch here at home in Jacksonville, Oregon. Rory and I made baked eggs in puff pastry, roasted veggies, arugula salad (with fresh meyer lemons from Mom’s garden) and watermelon-mint-feta salad. I think my mom was most excited about the chocolate mint patties that she loves so much! Off to walk downtown for small town shopping while Rory watches the Giro and Dad is off at the matinee. Aren’t Sundays wonderful?
I know tomorrow is Mother’s Day (hopefully you’ve already sent your card or planned brunch) but I want to celebrate my Father’s creativity today. Last night we went to the opening of Working, a musical he directed at the local community college in Medford, Oregon. It was fantastic and very entertaining! It was great to so much talent in a small community . This is his last production and very fitting for his last “job”. We’re proud of you Dad! *Props also goes to my Mama for his late night rehearsals and allowing him to do this at the young age of 76!
Today, I was in Phoenix presenting the State Winner of the Doodle 4 Google Contest! The winner was a talented 2nd grader, Arushi Sharma, who created a beautiful doodle that was called “The Wonders of Egypt” (following the theme of If I could travel in time, I would visit…). Arushi and her parents will go to NYC along with the other 49 other state winners and hope to win the National prize of $30,000 for college tuition and other amazing prizes. It’s up to the public to vote, so please go here to vote for your favorite doodle by May 10. It was an incredible experience to see these kids light up when you show demos of our Google products and get so excited to see Arushi win!

Roughly seven years ago, I got a job at a startup called @Last Software to do marketing for this nifty 3D modeling tool called SketchUp. Since then we’ve been acquired by Google, grown our office, moved down Pearl, some have moved to other teams (myself included) and naturally things have changed. Today, Google announced that they’ve sold SketchUp. It’s a great thing for the product and people, but I’m sure going to miss working with that fun crew and seeing their smiling faces every day. It’s been a bittersweet day.

Happy Earth Day! The sun is out and it’s a perfect day for getting out into the garden…hope y’all celebrate by planting some seeds or doing something green. We had some fun with the doodle (check the time lapse photos) and also a fun campaign that provides resources for gardening in your area.

Just in time for Earth Day, here are some fun-beehive-environmentally-friendly-wool-felt-soft-bowls that are good for storage, plants or decoration! They’re made by MIO (cool products) and come in fun colors. Feel good about buying organizers and being green. :)
Last night I had a date with four lovely ladies at Frasca in Boulder. We’ve had this date on our calendars for a long time and we were so excited to get dressed up (usually do dinner at our homes) and treat ourselves to the Monday night Wine Dinner with Baracchi Winery. What’s better than girl’s night with the Italian winemaker Benedetto Baracchi (in photo below)? And yes, he did sit with us and speak to us about his winery in Tuscany. Alla salute!

When it comes to wedding planning, there are many decisions to be made. I’m happy to say that I am pleased with every decision we’ve made so far. For instance, we chose to go the letterpress route for our Save the Date cards and Invitations (splurge a little). We’re trying to use all local vendors and seriously lucked out when we found Sweet Letter Press. They are a small letterpress shop in North Boulder and owned by a sweet couple who worked closely with us on the design, printing and paper decisions. I was tickled when they said I could watch the fascinating machine actually print our cards!

Happy Birthday Robert Doisneau! My favorite b&w photographer is on www.google.com today to honor his 100th birthday. Of course you know the Kiss photo that made him famous, but I know of many others. Ten years ago, I bought a bunch of his photograph postcards in France and here are my favorites.
